The tradition of wearing culturally significant stoles (Kente stoles) originates from Black and African-American graduates celebrating their heritage. Over the past 15 years, this tradition has expanded to include all students of color, international students, and anyone wishing to acknowledge their ethnicity. As part of this celebration, graduates were invited to select a stole that reflected their culture, country of origin, or another aspect of their identity. The event occured on April 29, 2018.
