This paper delves deeper into the concept of math anxiety, a concept that I have seen numerous times with both children and adults, and focus on the relationship between the two concepts. From there I knew I wanted to get into the heart of my research and learn about math creativity, ways to create an environment conducive for promoting math creativity, and how it would benefit the students.

While Early Childhood Education is extremely important, Emmanuel College does not offer a license, add-on license or certification in this field. This paper plans to outline ifthere is a high need for Early Childhood Educators in Massachusetts (specifically Boston), whether or not there is current interest for such a program at Emmanuel, what a hypothetical Early Childhood Education Program would look like at Emmanuel, and ultimately, should there be such a program integrated at this institution.

Significant changes in the "American family" have occurred over the past 50 -75 years. No single factor explains these changes; rather, the changes have been the result of the cumulative effect of many forces: historical events, governmental programs; changing economic conditions; technological developments; and social movements. The forces analyzed here are from the perspective of changing political culture, rather than from the perspective of formal political institutions.

This paper explores how lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) soldiers in the United States Anned Forces cope with the stigmatized identity of LGBTQ within the culture of the military that strongly supports and encourages hetero-masculinity. This paper is critical of policy that affects the lives of LGBTQ soldiers, such as Don't Ask, Don't Tell, and President Trump's "trans ban" a 2017 memorandum attempting to become legal policy banning trans gender individuals from serving in the US military. Based on the theoretical framework of Goffman's theory of stigma management and Schneider and Conrad's theory of stigma potential, this paper addresses the different practices used by stigmatized individuals to either conceal or reveal their stigmatized identity. As a result of the stigma LGBTQ soldiers face within the military, these soldiers actively participate in stigma management and stigma potential practices such as the use of passing, infonnation control, the use of the closet and disclosure to manage their competing identities. Furthennore, I found that LGBTQ soldiers experience higher rates of negative mental health outcomes as a result of stigma management. This paper also examines the lack of resources for LGBTQ soldiers and the resources that can be put in place to more effectively aid LGBTQ soldiers and to create a more inclusive environment.

Historians often study many accounts of the same event, each from a different perspective. Each side to the story has value and truth, however the truth is often skewed in order to portray the original writer, often the victor, in a good light. In order to construct the most accurate recollection of an event, historians must study narratives from many sources and analyze their intentions. Recognizing and understanding the biases of these sources is crucial to understanding the misconceptions, myths, and truths of history. The accounts of the fall of the Aztec Empire are riddled with myths and misconceptions. Some of the inaccuracies were created accidentally and were corrected easily, some were created purposely and are still perpetuated, and some are a combination ofthe aforementioned. The myths surrounding the fall ofthe Aztec Empire are numerous and often damaging. The perpetuation ofthese myths has affected the way in which the world views the Aztecs and their descendants.

SKN-1/Nrf (NF-E2 related factor) is a transcription factor that regulates redox regulators and lipid metabolism in Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans). SKN-1 counters damage caused by reactive oxygen species, which is often implicated in age-associated diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and arteriolosclerosis. Recently, SKN-1 was shown to mediate fat accumulation and oxidative stress resistance in worms missing germline stem cells [GSC(-)]. SKN-1 activation and inactivation are facilitated by nuclear import (by importin) and export (by exportin), respectively. However, it is still unknown what mediates this movement. A preliminary genome-wide screening suggested that importins and exportins may regulate SKN-1 activation under conditions of GSC(-).To evaluate this novel role of importins and exportins, RNA interference plasmids were used to knock down RNA expression of each importin and exportin. Stains were evaluated for SKN-1 activation, stress resistance, lifespan and lipid metabolism. SKN-1 activation was evaluated using GFP tagged SKN-1 isoform reporters. We found that knockdown of importins IMA-3, IMB-2, IMB-3, IMB-5, TSR-1 and T16G12.6 decreased SKN-1 activity and lipid accumulation under GSC(-) conditions. Furthermore, knockdown of IMA-3, IMB-3, or IMB-5 decreased oxidative stress resistance and lifespan under GSC(-). We observed that knockdown of exportins IMB-4, IMB-6, and C35A5.8 increased SKN-1 activity under basal conditions, while knockdown of IMB-6 increased lipid accumulation in control worms. The knockdown of C35A5.8 was also seen to increase lifespan. We concluded that importins and exportins, specifically IMA-3, IMB-3, IMB-5, and C35A5.8, either directly or indirectly, play an important role in SKN-1 activity and lipid metabolism.

Adolescents with cancer face a number of obstacles during their period of transition that negatively impacts the formation of their already-fragile identities. These obstacles, such as changes in appearance, physical and mental limitations, and isolation from peers lead to a number of psychological problems. Not only is art therapy an effective form of intervention for all struggling adolescents, it is especially beneficial for adolescent cancer patients, as it alleviates this "cancer identity" that is the root of psychological distress. Artistic creation promotes selfexpression to improve self-esteem. In addition, art as a coping skill eases symptoms of depression and anxiety, as well provides a distraction from pain and discomfort.

The intention of this case study is to analyze the development of mathematical thinking about multiplication and division of a fifth grade class. While teaching a large and diverse group offifth grade learners, I noticed a growing collection of different efficient mathematical strategies by some students, but also a persisting presence of inefficient methods despite my efforts to guide students away from them. I began charting this progress in order to track the trends over the semester. The question: How do the strategies that students use demonstrate their growing mathematical thinking?

The curriculum of the typical American classroom is Eurocentric and consistently reinforces White culture as the mainstream norm, while "schools typically expect students to conform to and celebrate White American culture and function to marginalize the learning styles, histories and strengths and knowledge of other cultures."

When a family receives the diagnosis of pediatric cancer, not only does the patient experiences distress, stressful events, and a loss of control, but the family experiences hardship as well. However, the use of therapeutic art and play helps manage and decrease pediatric cancer patients' anxiety and distress. Through the use of a literature review and case studies that examine interactions at Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, this paper will highlight the benefits of therapeutic art and play. Draw-and-tell method, medical play, and music therapy are different techniques discussed as having potential positive impacts, such as anxiety and distress management and reduction, on the pediatric cancer patient and their families.
